This body of work, created between 2015 and the present, consists of a series of wearable or in-close-relationship-with-the-body objects, redesigned as open-ended questions. Drawing on Speculative Design, it addresses themes such as belonging, power, spaces of inclusion and exclusion, and re-values minimal gestures, the discovery of one's own place, and the niches where encounters with others occur.
Bracelets granting access to a desired territory or luxury items, watches that reflect the wearer's own image, crystals with powers like drugs, are some of the objects produced during the last 10 years I lived in Berlin. During this time, the journey of self-discovery intertwined with the experience of being an immigrant, the clash of cultures, starting over, migrating between cities, groups of belonging, modes of production, languages, and disciplines. The pieces presented next were created from my position as spectator, protagonist, and, mostly, as a double agent.

Comparing the process of getting into the EU as an immigrant to trying to get into a nightclub, I intend to evince the state of speculation the applying immigrant faces before presenting themselves at the door, trying to look worthy of being let in. At the same time, I question public institution’s criteria for acceptance and rejection.

Plastic pacifier pendants became a mainstream trend during the mid 90s. Extremely popular amongst young girls, few people knew their origin. Years before, in underground raves around the world, it was common to see some attendants sucking on real pacifiers during their hours-long dancing rituals, due to some of the effects of ecstasy pills consumption.
Crystal rocks are a common feature in rituals throughout history and many believe in their healing powers. I have carved the mini version of the plastic pacifiers in three stones believed to have the same effects of an ecstasy pill: opal for a general sense of well being, rose quartz, to open one’s heart, and ruby for stamina.

A mirror is an element related to certain drugs' use, a moment that usually goes unnoticed, in which the user is confronted by their own reflection while consuming. A wristwatch, an object usually linked to meeting schedules and a life organized around work, is modified to confront the wearer with their own reflection. This piece references the gesture of catching one's own reflection in the middle of the night, the potential mismatch between how we feel and what we encounter, and the act of deciding to end the night or stretch it- a battle between desire and obligation.

Traditionally, heart-shaped lockets were used to carry the images of loved ones, serving as a love reminder and even as a source of protection, a kind of amulet. This particular locket resembles both the luminic disposable jewellery ravers used to enhance their sensory experience, as well as the famous heart-shaped candies that show a written love message.

The “Club (Mag)” wristbands are created as a playful solution to an unfulfilled desire in a world full of objects we can see but cannot touch or have. A tacit question on who access a certain type of production- artisanal, labour-intensive and one of a kind. Six different digital collages, made from pre-existing bracelets, printed in TYVEK wristbands, allow the wearer to have access, at least momentarily, to luxury jewellery pieces they have seen in magazines and shop windows but could never possess. This gesture references the image of a kid cutting out jewellery pictures from magazine and wearing them as a playful performance- this way, the pieces give a material answer that proposes play and inclusion, placing the value on ideas and shared moments.
